MA Modern Liberal Arts

(not recruting for year 2017-18)

MA Modern Liberal Arts offers a different and exciting way for students to plan their studies around their own intellectual interests and questions. The programme is designed for those who, after their first degree, wish to return to higher education without having to commit themselves to a specific subject discipline.

There are no taught modules on this programme. Students arrive at essay topics through negotiation with tutors, after a period of one-to-one study supervision.

Essays can be 5,000, 6,500, or 10,000 words long, to a total of 20,000 words in one year (full time) or two years (part time). There is also a dissertation of 20,000 words.
